Jordan Chase whose birth name is Eugene Greer, is a fictional character in the Showtime series Dexter. The character is portrayed by actor Jonny Lee Miller and is the main antagonist of season 5.
To the public at large, Jordan Chase is a highly-regarded author and motivational speaker, widely famed for "Take It!", a book and audiotape which argues that one should take what they think they deserve. He is secretly the ring leader of a five-man group responsible for the abduction, torture, rape, murder, and disposal of more than twelve women.
Though he does not, at any point, even physically touch the victims, he urges his cronies to do so, while filming the women's torture/rape with a camcorder. He would also approach the blindfolded victims, hold his watch up to their ear, and tell them that the ticking was the sound of their lives running out. Dexter continues to meet with Chase and eventually realizes that he must be one of the group, after Chase reveals to Dexter his motto - "Tick tick tick - that's the sound of your life running out."
It is revealed that during his teen years, his real name was Eugene Greer, and he suffered from obesity and a neglectful mother. He met Cole Harmon and a handful of other boys in a summer camp (who would later take part in the torture, rape, and murder of several young women along with him). There he and his friends isolated themselves from the others in the camp, something that Emily Birch, their counselor took notice of. While walking one evening with Greer, she was knocked unconsciousness and tied up in a cabin, where Chase urged them to rape her chanting "Take It" as an inspiration. Rather than report them though, she became emotionally dependent on Greer/Chase, to the point that she would later warn him about Lumen and Dexter.
In Season 5, he continues the cycle urging his cronies to kill/rape/torture their victims while taping the whole thing. After their murders he would order one of the men, Boyd Fowler to finish the victims off and dispose of them. After Fowler's death, his soon to be dead victim falls from a room onto Dexter Morgan which changes everything.
